…you can with FlashEarth. This is a great altenative to Google Earth becuase you simple go to flashearth.com and can begin finding any place by entering a city or attractin. Do not expect to enter an address necessarily; however, it does a great job with coordinates if entered correctly.
I was introduced to this when a student of mine was searching for a specific place and it just so happened that FlashEarth came up on the search. I instantly stood around for 10 minutes watching the student manipulate the map. I was totally addicted that night!!!
I want you to take a look at some of the great places my students found in my Web Development class. What a great tool!!! Almost wish I was a Geography teacher and could play with this all of the time.
What great images can you or your students find?
Worlds Windiest Road & Wimbledon Facility
Ohio State Tennis Facility & Statue of Liberty
The Roman Colosseum & Cedar Point (Sandusky, OH)
Stratosphere (Las Vegas) & Stonehenge
Worlds Largest Maze at Dole Plantation on Oahu
